Tom Hanks
He started as a likeable comedic actor, but now may be the most recognized and honored dramatic actor of his generation. Tom Hanks has appeared in many hits. He more often than not plays the normal Everyman tossed into unusual situations.
Hanks dropped out of California State University in to devote all his time to acting, and performed on TV and numerous films: Splash (1984) and Big (1988) are perhaps the best known of his early work, but he later won acclaim for Saving Private Ryan, Apollo 13 and Philadelphia.
He is a frequent host of Saturday Night Live and is a diehard Cleveland Indians fan.
